Besides its functions in support of partner organisations’ project planning within particular programme components, the HBF Nigeria office supports capacity-building, training and self-reflection of Nigerian civil society in more general ways, hence the programme component “Reflection, Dialogue, Networking” brings together central co-ordinating, advisory, and programme development-related functions of the office and systematizes the office’s direct roles in supporting the development of civil society in Nigeria in general, and in certain thematic areas. At the same time, it serves as an instrument to continuously develop HBF Nigeria’s own thematic orientation and practical work.

HBF Nigeria’s future programme component is envisaged to open up to more general human rights concerns, in order to address some of the grave human rights violations that still exist.
